Our Guidebook to Crete:
Spiral Crete

Our Guidebook to Crete: Spiral Crete AA edition
Our guidebook to Crete is Spiral Crete, published by AA Publishing in England (left) and by AAA in the USA (below). Donna had already written the Berlitz Guide to Crete, and Mike had spent a month on Crete on a previous visit. We'd also been to Crete several times to write newspaper and magazine articles too.

So we were delighted to be asked by the AA to write the Crete title in their attractive Spiral series. These Spiral guides are guides we've used ourselves when planning both work trips and vacations, so we knew how good they were – and how demanding it would be to write one.

Our Guidebook to Crete: Spiral Crete AAA edition A guidebook research trip does take some time and planning, especially one like this when we were going to spend six weeks touring the island. We did have a few hotels booked at the start of the trip, but after that we just took our chances and found somewhere when we arrived in the various towns and villages we visited. You usually try to make it a hotel you're going to recommend in the book, of course!

We went at the end of the holiday season, in September and October, and were very lucky with the weather. There was hardly any rain at all, the whole time, which was good as Donna always takes lots of photos.

So we can tell you honestly that our Spiral Guide to Crete was very thoroughly researched – especially the restaurants!
