Athens

from budget and moderate options through to 5-star luxury choices.
Achilleas Hotel
The Achilleas Hotel
This reasonably-priced 3-star
hotel has 35 rooms and suites and is very close to Syntagma Square and its
metro station, so a great location and good value. All rooms are large and
clean, have en suite facilities, air-conditioning, fridge, satellite TV and
telephones.

Andromeda Suites and Apartments
Andromeda Suites and Apartments
Situated in a quiet street next to the American Embassy,
this luxury hotel is aimed at the business traveller, with computers and fax
machines available on request. It was one of the first boutique-style hotels in
Athens and has maintained its standards despite the ever-increasing
competition. It’s about a 7-minute walk from the nearest metro station, Megaro
Moussikis, which is on the direct line to Athens International Airport.

Athens Cypria Hotel
The Athens Cypria Hotel
Just off the pedestrianised Ermou shopping street and a
5-minute walk from Syntagma Square, the 4-star Athens Cypria is an excellent
mid-range choice on both price and location. Many of its 71 rooms have
balconies, and some on the upper floors have Acropolis views – so ask for one
when booking. All rooms have TV, phone, mini-bar and internet access, and some
luxury rooms have Jacuzzis too. The hotel's restaurant, "The Athens Kitchen," serves Greek and international cuisine, and the rooftop bar is a great spot to enjoy a drink or a light meal while taking in the views of the city.

Attalos Hotel
View of the Acropolis from the roof garden of the Attalos Hotel in Athens
This is our favourite of the more moderately-priced hotels
in Athens. It’s an unpretentious and friendly 3-star hotel, less than a
5-minute walk from Monastiraki Square. The metro station at Monastiraki has
direct connections to both Piraeus and to Athens International Airport. The
Attalos has a lovely roof garden with views of the Acropolis. They have rooms
for from one-to-four people, and some have balconies, making it a good budget
choice for people who are sharing.

the guest register reads like a roll-call of history. It's right on Syntagma
Square and features include marbled interiors, swimming pool, spa, top
restaurants, city views, and impeccable service. Its 58 suites come with

Periscope
The Periscope Hotel
The super-stylish designer Periscope hotel does indeed have
a periscope in the lobby along with other eye-catching features like a rooftop
Jacuzzi in the penthouse suite. Rooms are ultra-contemporary with music, DVDs,
high-speed internet and all modern facilities. It’s a short walk from Kolonaki
Square and from several of Athens’s best museums.

St George Lycabettus
The St George Lycabettos Hotel
One of the most distinctive hotels in the city, this 5-star
boutique hotel is at the foot of Mount Lycabettos and its rooms and rooftop
have views towards the Acropolis. There are 154 rooms but the personal service
in this family-owned hotel make it feel much smaller and more intimate. The art
displays around the hotel are another special feature, and there’s also a
rooftop pool.

Stratos Vassilikos
The Stratos Vassilikos Hotel
The Stratos Vassilikos is part of a small, select chain of
hotels, slightly out of the centre in the embassy and business district, but a place
with superb standards, fresh flowers, a fitness centre with sauna and hammam, newspaper
and free wireless internet in all rooms, an atrium restaurant and bar – a
delightful place to stay.
